hi, I’m Karen Jeane Mills

Illustrator ⋅ Researcher ⋅ Documentarian

I live in Calgary, Alberta, where I’ve hung my hat for fifteen years. I grew up on Canada’s East Coast and studied visual arts at NSCAD University and NSCC.

Prairie Crop is my freelance design studio where I create illustrations, brand suites, and educational resources for community groups and businesses.

Clients include AB Labour History Institute, Calgary Institute for the Humanities, Canadian Paediatric Society, Eltuek Arts Centre, Lougheed House Museum

My work draws on local history, the prairie bioregion, and public life. I document my activities, routines, and tips on Instagram, Threads, and YouTube
